What are Prodrome?

This is called pre headache. You might notice early warning signs of migraine. This type of headache is different from everyone and it can start several hours or sometime days before the headache fully hits you.

What are the common signs?
Everyone will not feel the same things during prodrome, some symptoms may happen more often than others. For example, you may need to pee more often or you may yawn continuously. You could have certain sweet foods more than usual, for example chocolate. If you have bit of chocolate than you may think that this will cause migraine. But it may be just been a craving that was warning you that your migraine was on the way.

Mood:
Some patient may get irritable or depressed in the days and hours before you get migraine. Sometimes on the opposite phase, some patient may feel sense of happiness in the hours before migraine.

Sleep:
Patient may feel unusually tired before migraine. Also, too much or little sleep could help in bringing one on. Always pay attention to how sleep connects to your symptoms. This will help you to stay away from the trigger.

Belly Problems:
Sometimes prodrome can also affect your digestive system. At such stage you can feel sick to your stomach or also have diarrhea or constipation. Your doctor can help you in treating such symptoms but it won’t prevent migraine.

Sensitivity to Light or Sound:
These are the common signs of migraine. This often continues through headache and post headache stages. High light or loud noise can trigger a second one as you are getting first.

Changes in Vision:
As you are near or closer to migraine than your vision may get blurry. You may also have blind spot and also flash lights or shapes. These problems can slowly get worst. Buy usually they do not last for more than 1 hour.

Pain Relievers:
Whether the medication is prescribed or over the counter, one should take this medication as soon as you notice telltale sign. The earlier you have the dose the better are the results. But sometimes taking them too often or too much can cause stomach ulcer.

Have Caffeine:
Sometimes caffeine can stop some early stage of migraine pain by itself. This may also help to boost the effects of pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen. Never overdose this. Too much caffeine may lead to withdrawal headache when you try to cut back.

Avoid Food:
Many eatables like nuts, fruits, cheese, alcohol, pickled, and additives like nitrates may lead to migraine in some people. So figure out which food bothers you and keep the track record what you eat to avoid migraines.

Lie down in a dark room:
This may calm and relaxes you and this is good when you want to fend migraine pain. Also, it gets you away from bright light which can make the symptoms of individual worse.

Try Heat or cold:
Keep a cold compress on your head or neck, this may numb the area and dull the pain signals Also, a heating pad may relax tense muscles.
